THE RICE BOX

The Rice Box isn’t your average takeout joint — it’s a full-on flavor rave wrapped in neon. Established in 2011 as a food truck, it gained popularity among University of Houston students before opening its first permanent location in 2017. Today, the brand has expanded to five locations, including River Oaks, Greenway Plaza and Hedwig Village.

Known for its futuristic, neon-lit decor inspired by films like “Blade Runner,” The Rice Box offers a menu featuring classics such as General Tso’s Chicken, Orange Peel Beef and Chow Fun noodles. They also provide vegan options and unique beverages like Nitro Teas.

The vibe? Think cyberpunk-meets-late-night-in-Tokyo, with glowing kanji, gritty textures and futuristic flourishes that feel like they were pulled straight from The Matrix’s loading screen.
